The Gran Fondos are highly successful events. Some of the great cities, like New York, London, Berlin or Rome, host these events annually, lending their name to some of the most famous Gran Fondos in the world.

Lisbon is now part of this list, making its debut in the world of the Gran Fondos. With the race scheduled for 22nd April, the Gran Fondo Lisboa places the Portuguese capital in the first wave of the worldwide calendar for this type of races, therefore increasing its appeal among international athletes.​ 

Already a reference in the hosting of large scale international events, Lisbon provides multi-cultural experiences with influences from all corners of the world, creating a special and welcoming atmosphere for all that take part in such an event.

Included in the Gran Fondo Lisboa program, there will also be a bicycle touring event, the Fun Fondo, over a 15 km course and passing through some of the Portuguese capital’s most emblematic sites. The Fun Fondo’s start will take place right after the Gran Fondo Lisboa’s.

​The organisation, by Stream Plan and Podium Events (Volta a Portugal organiser) together with Ultra Spirit Sports (Granfondo Premium organiser), hopes that with the Gran Fondo Lisboa, it can bring to Portugal an international event, which allows for everyone to have a great cycling experience.
